Before begining to read acknowledge our PURPOSE for reading this chapter is to help us determine what is important:
1- What is the author's definition of a SURVIVOR HERO?
2- What qualities does it takes to be a SURVIVOR HERO, and/or are exemplified by one?
3- After reading the chapter - return to the quote by Alfred Tennyson, "Ulysses"

4- Think of someone, from real life or fiction, you consider a to be a SURVIVOR HERO. Write a well-developed paragraph that explains what did that person do to make her or him a hero in your eyes. Include the character traits that were exhibited by this person.
**5. Some say that heroes are not made, but are born. In other words, you can't set out in life to become a hero; instead, there's something in you from birth that makes you heroic.
